RCFlightEdge Privacy Policy
This policy covers only the RCFlightEdge mobile app. It does not cover the QinisaEdge Technologies, LLC website or its contact form.
What we collect
QinisaEdge Technologies, LLC does not collect RCFlightEdge user information on its own servers. The app has no server of its own and does not use accounts, sign-in, advertising, analytics, crash reporting, tracking, or cloud sync.
If you choose to share crash reports or beta feedback through Apple, Apple may provide them to us; beta feedback can include your name and email address. If you email us, we receive your email address and message. We use this information only to respond to you and to fix and improve RCFlightEdge.
Any purchase of RCFlightEdge is handled by the app store, not by RCFlightEdge.
What stays on your device
Information you enter is stored in a local database on your device, including:
- Pilot information: pilot name, optional AMA number, optional FAA registration number, and preferred units.
- Flying fields: field name, address or location text, latitude and longitude, and optional surface, club name, runway orientation, and notes.
- Aircraft: aircraft details such as name, type, transmitter, receiver, battery and power notes, radio switch setups, and attention items.
RCFlightEdge does not use your device's GPS location. Field coordinates come from coordinates you enter manually or from an address lookup you choose to run.
Deleting RCFlightEdge deletes its locally stored data from the device. That data may also be included in your own device backups.
What is sent to third parties and why
Address lookup: Only when you tap Verify Address, RCFlightEdge sends the address text you typed to Geoapify, a third-party address lookup service, to obtain coordinates. The request also includes the app's service key and fixed search settings for United States locations only and one result.
Weather: When RCFlightEdge shows weather for a flying field, it sends that field's latitude and longitude, rounded to four decimal places, to the U.S. National Weather Service at api.weather.gov to obtain forecasts, observations, and alerts. Requests identify the app as RCFlightEdge (support@qinisaedgetechnologies.com). The app does not send your pilot name, AMA number, FAA registration number, or other pilot profile information with these requests.
Address lookup and weather information cover United States locations only. The information described above is what RCFlightEdge sends to these third-party services. As with any internet request, these services can see the device's IP address. Their own privacy policies apply.
Links in the app open outside RCFlightEdge.
Children
RCFlightEdge is intended for a general audience. The app itself does not send personal information to QinisaEdge Technologies, LLC from anyone, including children; we receive only what is described under What we collect. Information a user enters stays in the local database on the device; the app sends only the address lookup and weather request information described above to outside services.
